From Fling To Ring In 60 Days: The Rules of Getting Any Guy to Propose to You in 60 Days or Less

Just finished watching the first season of Ugly Betty, and thought I write a little about Sofia Reyes, a fictional character in the series, who managed to tie down Daniel, an editor-in-chief of Mode and a notorious womenizer.

“From Fling To Ring In 60 Days: The Rules of Getting Any Guy to Propose to You in 60 Days or Less”

1. Pique his interest: Sofia may have taken off her shirt in the elevator to get his attention after a coffee spilled, but ladies, a more practical way would be to smile and be approachable.
2. Stay in close proximity. She may take over Daniel’s boardroom to get his attention, but you can….actually, I think this one is a good idea.  If you can do something bold like this, I suggest you do it.
3. Give him a taste. Sofia seduced Daniel at the bar.  Well, if you have a chance to flirt with him (without anyone else you know seeing), then go for it.
4. Make yourself unavailable. Sofia didn’t return Daniel’s call(s), and then introduced her boyfriend into the picture.  After he’s definitely into you, please make sure NOT to spend every waking moment with him.  Your family and your friends are important, but the most important of all is the time for youself.  I don’t recommend doing 1-3 and then 4 if you already have a boyfriend though, that’s just a plain bitch.  Give him space and opportunities to hook up with other girls, so he can enjoy some time with his friends and give him a chance to miss you and reflect on the relationship.  If he still thinks about you while he is hanging out with other female companions, he’ll know you are the one.
5. Give him a ticking clock. Sofia gave Daniel the choice to make, to settle down in a matter of a minute or Harry will propose to her this weekend. Some guys need a little push to take an action, but you have to tick all the boxes for this to work.  If there is any box that he is unsured about, the likelyhood of he getting down on his knee is pretty low.

PS: It’s a foolproofed method, as I probably utilized all of the 5 rules stated by Sofia, but mine took 1095 days to accomplish!

Happy Feedback

With all the financial crunch, looming recession, Taj’s terrorist attack, and the uncertainty in Thai politics, let’s hear some good news from MeetNLunch about the people that went on the dates recently to cheer us up.

I’m not sure what defined truly “chemistry.” However, she is Thai-Chinese, has white skin, good education and is very lovely.  Besides, she also loves international foods and ice cream like me. Good Job! Meet N Lunch, thank you so much.

u’r the new comer of mnl, arent ya?? 555 (he was referring to our new consultant that sent him the feedback email) , where are Jay Nikki’n Jay Air ?? anyway it’s OK jaaa.  Khun Jum?? yehh she’s so cute , unfortunatrly she doesn’t know how charming she is. I DO think she is the one, …(FUN THONG NA JAA)”

He is quite a good guy base on my couple of hours talk.  He tends to be kind of a leader which I think it is good for men doing/being this.  For first impression, he is not so much attractive but after getting to know about him, then I think he is better than my 1st impression.”

Yes, enjoyed the date. I like her openness which we both can share some personal story, family, and etc. I think it was enjoyable talk. She is generous lady with good heart (senses of giving).”

“Dear Meet and Lunch,
1. There is quite a bit of chemistry. I would like to continue meeting her after our date.

2. She is a friendly, outspoken, and sincere person. I like her eyes, round and big.
She impresses me quite a bit as she is only thirty year old, but she works like a professional in her recruiting profession. I really like her sincerity when she talks about anything.

4. Central World is appropriate. We didn’t eat at Kabuki though.

5. I absolutely enjoy my meeting with Khun Kate, I will need to talk to her more often.”

Hope these feedbacks managed to cheer some of you up, that at least some people found their loves last week.  Happy Tanksgiving!

My Flowers for Church Wedding

As many of you may have already known that I’m going to get married soon, this comes with huge responsibilities in getting everything together, and I wouldn’t have been able to survive without my mother’s and my soon-to-be mother-in-law’s help.

New family comes new relatives. I have recently got so many invite on Facebook from Chris’s relatives: “Hi bride-to-be, wanna be friends with auntie…? Add me!” Rejecting the invite would be a disastrous attempt to save any privacy of posting drunken night out pictures with my girlfriends or secret holidays that Chris and I had been taking. No more escape from aunties and uncles.

My mother managed to arrange a well-known make-up artist for me for the morning engagement ceremony. Due to the inevitable faith at birth, my engagement time has to be precisely 6:50 -7:30 am. This means my mother insisting on me getting to the hotel by 5 AM to get my body all covered in powder, so it’s the same color as my face, and foregone any beauty sleep I should get. Mind you, my mother hasn’t been so active since 2000, so this is a real progress.

Chris’s mother has also managed to secure us a great florist. She has been so details with everything that Chris and I felt so lost at first reading her email. I’m sure it’s beautiful, but we had so little knowledge of what most flowers are called, so we googled all the images (see below).

Met another florist today.

Cascading Bridal bouquette will feature Phalanaeopsis (purplish or dark pinkish) depending on availability, Lysianthus (purple/white), Rose (pink), Wax (purplish/pinkish) and soom kratai (I can’t find the Latin name for this).

Other flowers are:

Roses (60% purple, 20% white, 20% pink)
Carnation (50% purple, 50 white)
Vanda (purple)
Cattelya (white/purple)
Amaranthus (green/pink)
Gerbera (pink)
Spider (green)
Fresh Grapes (70% purple, 30% green)
Ivy
Kiwi Leaves
Plong Fa leaves (no translation).

The 2 stands at the entrance will be about 2 metre tall
The 2 stands at the Altar will be about 1.20 metre tall”

Phalanaeopsis = Oh, so it’s an orchid!

Lysianthus = Yes! I like this one.

wax =  okay, not what I thought it was.

Amaranthus=  hmm, interesting choice.

To be honest, I can’t understand why I need powder on my body at 5 am, and I can’t pictures all of these flowers + grapes + carnation + Ivy all together,  it sounds a little chaotic to me, but sometimes you will have to trust your mother and soon-to-be one.
